    Lightbulb

Here is (as far as I know) the step-by-step guide to making a film:

    1. Get ideas for a film. Write a story.
    2. Turn the story into a script.
    3. Story-board the script until you're happy with it.
    4. Find locations for each shot. (Gain permission if necessary)
    5. Research costumes. Find out what you want, how many, where to get them and how much it will cost.
    6. Speak to a production house about equipment. Find out how much it will cost to use equipment.
    7. Approach the authorities. If you are doing a cop film, let them know. If it's a fire, let the fire brigade know.
    8. Audition actors / actresses.
    9. Work out your total budget. include all filming costs, as well as props, actors/actresses, facilities, etc...
    10. Apply for funding.
    11. Arrange filming schedule. Take into consideration wheather, ilness, etc...
    12. FILM! Woohoo! At last!
    13. Have a party once filming is done. (this keeps actors/sctresses interested till the end).
    14. Get editing schedule.
    15. Edit film.
    16. Re-record audio if needed. Also get score sorted out.
    17. Send to distribution companies.

    And that's IT!

If i've missed something out, please post what I've left out.

    Wink

    Un-Indie film there is:

2a Get a distributor interested in your idea
2b Get some 'names' interested in your idea

    and

    18 Release it on video
    19 Release a Director's Cut
    20 Release a Special Edition
21 Sell various versions to TV all over the world
    22 Release it on DVD
    23 Release a Director's Cut on DVD
24 ... you get the idea ... re-release it on as many mediums as possible, in an order that keeps the public interested and maximises your profits

    Then there's always:

    25 Get divorced
26 Take some time (and publicity) for rehab

    wink
